The success to any exquisite cake always starts with the ingredients! My main ingredients for the “batter” of the cake are diapers, safety pins, small rubber bands, bottles, cardboard cake round. I don’t use tape to hold anything together because it may damage some of the premium items used.
The prep work really is essential. It’s critical to roll each diaper so that the labels are not showing and so that they are tight and firm. To build the cake, just keep rolling diapers and wrapping them around the center of the babycake which is where the bottle is placed.
The “icing” is really up to you! Some of my favorite icing flavors are baby blankets, but I also use specialty paper to create our custom color looks when a specific theme is requested as featured in the sorority or sports baby cakes. Other icing flavors include bibs, shoes, lap pads, pacifiers, teethers, stuffed animals, safety pins and rattles. The list could go on! Whatever they make for babies could almost be incorporated in some way to make your diaper cake a unique and thoughtful gift!
